As part of the great initiative “Teachers in Companies – Internship for Teachers“, we had the pleasure of hosting Zoran Dumančić, a teacher from the Ruđer Bošković Technical School in Zagreb, at our new production facility in Velika Gorica.
During the four-day internship, teacher Dumančić went through all the key departments in our production process – from production preparation and procurement, through the assembly of printed circuit boards and devices, all the way to the final product inspection. In this way, he gained insight into the specific work processes and challenges in the modern high-tech industry, which we believe will be valuable to him in his further work with students.
Impressions from practice
“The organization, team communication, working conditions and additional benefits reminded me of the leading companies in the world where I had the opportunity to work or visit – only here everything was done in Croatian, which was great,” shared teacher Dumančić at the end of the internship.
A special moment for him was meeting his former students:
“At ALTPRO, I met several former students, and some of them were even teaching me now – which was a really nice role reversal. I was happy to see how well they managed in the business environment and realized that the knowledge they gained at school really has application in the real world.”
He also added a personal anecdote that particularly touched him: “As I write this, one of my former students is currently traveling to Los Angeles on a business trip. I am proud that he got such an opportunity and I am sure that it is a great challenge for him, but also an honor.”
Our experience
For us at ALTPRO, this was an extremely positive experience. We believe that such collaborations can have multiple values – both for teachers and their students, and for companies that recognize education as a strategic partner for the future. We thank teacher Dumančić for his engagement and enthusiasm, and we look forward to new opportunities for cooperation!

About project
The “Teachers in Companies” program was launched in 2021 by Advantage Austria, in cooperation with organizations such as the Croatian Chamber of Crafts, the Agency for Vocational Education and Adult Education, and numerous chambers of commerce and embassies. It aims to connect schools and the economy through practice in the real sector, allowing teachers to get to know industrial processes and current labor market needs first-hand. Such experiences directly contribute to the modernization of vocational education and its better alignment with practice.
