ALTPRO at InnoTrans 2026: Four Days of Innovation, Connections and New Opportunities
We have successfully concluded our 11th participation at InnoTrans, the world’s leading trade fair for railway technology, which took place from 22 to 25 September in Berlin.
Over four busy days, we had the opportunity to meet customers, partners and railway professionals from around the world, present our latest solutions and discuss new opportunities for cooperation. This year, we showcased our expertise across three key areas: infrastructure signalling, on-board signalling and hydrogen technologies.
We welcomed visitors at stand 660 in Hub 27 and, for the first time, also at our position in the outdoor display area, T10/45.
Presenting the next generation of signalling solutions
In the field of infrastructure signalling, one of the main highlights of our presentation was APAX, our new generation of certified axle counters. APAX is an IoT-based solution for a wide range of train detection applications. Developed from almost three decades of experience in railway projects worldwide, it combines a flexible architecture with proven sensor technology and a high level of configurability.
Alongside APAX, we presented our broader infrastructure signalling capabilities, including level crossing protection systems, railway vehicle detection solutions, SCADA and power supply systems, as well as our expertise in Control Command and Signalling subsystem integration.
RAS90 and RAS90DB: integrated on-board signalling
For rolling stock, we presented RAS90, our Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system based on INDUSI PZB90 technology. Designed for integration into modern railway vehicles, RAS90 supports interoperability with ETCS, TCMS and JRU systems, allowing it to be integrated into different onboard signalling architectures.
A particular highlight was RAS90DB, our dedicated version developed for the German and Austrian markets, in line with their technical and operational requirements.
We also presented our capabilities in the integration of complete on-board signalling systems, as well as tools supporting preventive and corrective maintenance throughout the lifecycle of ATP systems.
HERMES – attracting attention from visitors and media
One of the major highlights of our participation at InnoTrans 2026 was the first presentation of HERMES, marking our entry into hydrogen technologies. HERMES is a containerized hydrogen power generation system designed to supply traction power to existing electric locomotives. By combining hydrogen storage, fuel-cell technology and energy management in a modular platform installed on a standard railway wagon, HERMES offers a new approach to operating existing electric locomotives on non-electrified railway lines.
HERMES attracted significant attention throughout the exhibition, both from visitors and from the media. The strong interest gave us the opportunity to present the concept in detail, exchange ideas with industry professionals and discuss its potential applications for the future of railway transport. For us, the response to HERMES was particularly encouraging as we take this important step into a new technological field while building on our existing railway expertise.
World Innovation Guide
A particular highlight of this year’s participation was the inclusion of HERMES among the 180 World Innovation Premieres presented at InnoTrans 2026. These innovations provide an insight into the direction of railway industry development, with artificial intelligence, automation, digitalisation and alternative propulsion technologies playing an increasingly important role.
In addition to HERMES, REDPointPro, a product developed by DEUTA-WERKE and incorporating our RAS90DB, was also featured in the World Innovation Guide. RAS90DB was developed in cooperation with DEUTA-WERKE, making this another valuable recognition of our technological expertise and successful international partnerships.
Looking back on a successful InnoTrans 2026
InnoTrans 2026 was an important opportunity for us to showcase our technologies, strengthen existing relationships and establish new connections within the international railway industry.
From APAX and our infrastructure signalling solutions, through RAS90 and RAS90DB for on-board signalling, to the new HERMES hydrogen power generation system, we presented technologies that reflect our continued focus on innovation and the changing needs of modern railways.
We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand and outdoor display, met with our team, shared ideas and took the time to learn more about our solutions. We are taking the conversations, new connections and opportunities from Berlin with us as we continue developing solutions for the railway of tomorrow.
